Julie Crone
Julie Crone is a Southern California native whose lifelong connection to art began when she discovered oil painting at the age of six. After earning her BFA from the University of Arizona, she expanded her artistic perspective through studies in Florence, Italy. She now lives and works in Newport Beach with her husband, three sons, and their beloved dog, who rules the house.
Rooted in the coastal landscape and the richness of family life, Julie’s work explores the beauty and complexity of transition. Through layered, mixed-media compositions, she embraces the imperfections that shape us and invites viewers to find connection and meaning within the layers of their own journeys.
Each composition unfolds one layer at a time, reflecting how a life is shaped through every season, transition, and experience. No single element tells the whole story; meaning emerges through what is carried forward, rearranged, and transformed along the way.
Layering is both my process and my metaphor. On their own, these fragments may feel raw or unresolved; assembled together, they become intricate and meaningful. The overlooked and unfinished find their place within a larger whole, revealing how something beautiful can emerge from imperfection.
Paths and shifting forms suggest the journeys we undertake through change. Each composition holds the tension between beauty and struggle, fragility and strength. My work invites viewers to reflect on the layers of their own experience, find grace in life’s transitions, and remain open to the possibilities ahead.
